1

Pay the Late Linking Fee

A late fee of ₹1,000 is applicable (deadline passed). Pay via the Income Tax portal: e-Pay Tax > CHALLAN NO./ITNS 280 > Fee for delay in linking PAN-Aadhaar.

2

Wait 4-5 Days After Payment

After paying the fee, wait 4-5 working days before proceeding. The payment needs to reflect in the system.

3

Go to incometax.gov.in

Visit the Income Tax e-Filing portal. On the homepage, without logging in, click "Link Aadhaar" under Quick Links.

4

Enter PAN and Aadhaar Number

Enter your 10-digit PAN and 12-digit Aadhaar number. Click "Validate". Then enter your name exactly as in Aadhaar and your registered mobile OTP.

5

Submit and Confirm

Click "Link Aadhaar". A confirmation message will appear. To verify, visit the same page and enter your PAN — it will show "Your Aadhaar-PAN linking is under process" or "Successfully linked".

What happens if I don't link Aadhaar-PAN?

Unlinked PAN becomes inoperative. You cannot file ITR, claim refunds, or complete financial transactions requiring PAN. TDS will be deducted at higher rates.

Is the ₹1,000 fee refundable?

No. The late linking fee of ₹1,000 is non-refundable.
